The See and Learn First Written Words and First Sentences Add-Ons for Special Words and Special Stories provide words, phrases and story books with pictures and spoken prompts to support matching and reading activities. The add-on resources are designed for use with the Special Words and Special Stories apps, which should be purchased separately, for use on the Apple® iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®.
The Special Words app already includes single word vocabulary from See and Learn First Word Pictures and See and Learn More Word Pictures. The new add-ons extend the vocabulary with phrases from See and Learn First Written Words and First Sentences for use in Special Words and phrase books for use in Special Stories.
DSE’s See and Learn programs are designed to support early learning for children with Down syndrome. Our See and Learn programs are evidence-based and make it easy to provide effective support for language learning and speech development during the early years – at home and in group and therapy sessions.

Initially, a US English set and a UK English set are available. We plan to offer additional languages in the future.
Purchasing
The See and Learn First Written Words and First Sentences Add-Ons for Special Words and Special Stories are available for purchase as digital downloads.
You will receive a link to download the six resources for the language edition that you have chosen. You will be able to download the resources up to a maximum of three times during a period of up to five days. Please be sure to back up the data on your device following Apple’s instructions.
Please note that this add-on is currently only compatible with the iPad/iPod versions of Special Words - for technical reasons, it will not install on the new Android version. We are working to resolve this.
License
The resources are licensed for use with a single child or family. A single family is entitled to install the resources on multiple devices. Professionals and organisations wishing to use the resources with more than one child and many devices should contact us for volume licensing options.
DSE organisations are not-for-profit: fees received are invested in services and scientific research benefiting children with Down syndrome. Please do not copy and share our resources illegally: doing so damages our ability to conduct future research, develop resources and provide future services.
